Message from Your Counselor

Hi! I'm Mrs. Matheny.

School counseling is an absolute passion of mine! I am so excited to work with you! This year is going to be a great year, full of fun, learning, and lots of adventures.  I can't wait to see what the year has in store for us as we work to prepare you to graduate high school next year. I thought you might like to know a little bit about me.

I am married to my husband, Cedric. Together we have two awesome kiddos:  Lincoln and Nuri.  They take up most of our free time, but some hobbies I enjoy include crafting, cooking, and traveling.

I am originally from Alabama and have lived in Georgia for 23 years. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Comprehensive Language Arts - Secondary Education from Troy University. I earned my Master's of Science and Educational Specialist degrees from Jacksonville State University in School Counseling.  Additionally, I earned a Juris Doctor degree from Southern University Law Center.  I hold certifications in Gifted Instruction, Educational Leadership, Paralegal Studies, and English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).

I have been a professional school counselor for over 10 years.  In total, I have been an educator for over 22 years. I enjoy working with students and being a part of their high school experience.  I am so excited to be a Clarkston Angora!

A few of my favorites:

Color: Pink and green

Season: Fall and Spring

Food: Sushi and Crawfish

Drink: Sweet Tea

Song: too many to choose

Book: Becoming by Michelle Obama

Sport: Track and Field
